Summary: | Materials science is an interdisciplinary and integrated research field, concerning the relationship among microstructure, processing and property of materials. Although ceramics were anciently invented, modern ceramics are advancing rapidly, leading into new fields far beyond the conventional image of ceramics. The properties of materials, in particular ceramics, are strongly affected by processing, and thus a new processing can produce mew materials which can trigger significant development of society.Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).The present book comprises 58 peer-reviewed scientific papers presented to the 5th International Symposium on Advanced Ceramics and International Symposium on Advanced Synthesis and Processing Technology for Materials 2013 held in Wuhan, China. This joint conference aimed to discuss on cutting edge research of advanced ceramics, providing the most up-to-date know-how of innovative processing. Keyword: Advanced Ceramics, Electroceramics, Novel Processing, Materials Characterization The joint conference drew researchers and practitioners from ceramics, metals, and composites to share insights and findings on advanced processing of such materials. The 58 papers consider such topics as fabricatingcarbon-nanotube-reinforced boron carbide composite by hot-pressing following extrusion molding, the effect of pH on the microstructure and purity ofcopper-coated tungsten composite powders prepared by electroless plating, the observation of diamagnetic fluid flow in high magnetic fields, modifying the surface of silicon carbide powder with silica coating by rotary chemical vapor deposition, and synthesizing and characterizing dense mesoporous alumina. - Composite materials- Materials science- Metals |
