Summary: | Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters BCI (WoS).The special session "Fluid Flow, Energy Transfer and Design" held at the 9th International Conference on Diffusion in Solids and Liquids (DSL 2013) sheltered papers of different areas ranging from physics, mathematics and chemistry to engineering. It served as a link under which authors of different areas and backgrounds came together, and make their research accessible to the varied audience. In this sense worked to counter the possible divisive tendency. This special issue is a fitting tribute to the different views since this is not a divisive tendency but the seethe of science that shapes the ever-changing landscapes of our research world. Keyword: Multiphase Flow; Diffusion, Osmosis and Phase Change; Forced Convection; External Flows; Energy, Design and Optimization; Learning and Teaching Techniques Physicists, mathematicians, and chemists contributed to the special session at the 2013 Conference on Diffusion in Solids and Liquids, from which the 29 papers here emerged. They cover multiphase flow; diffusion, osmosis, and phase change; forced convection; external flows; energy, design, and optimization; and learning and teaching techniques. Among the topics are the numerical analysis of heat transfer in a flow confined by wire screen in a lithium bromide absorption process, the diffusion phenomenon of a pollutant flowing into a lagoon, an experimental study of internal forced convection in ferrofluid flow in porous media, energy transfer and fluid flow around a massive astrophysical object, and the numerical investigation of the viscous dissipation term on two-dimensional heat transfer. - Applied mathematics- Fluid mechanics- Material science- Soft matter- Thermodynamics |
