Summary:This book comprises selected papers from the third conference in the series 'Horizons in Livestock Sciences'. The conference series was established in 2003 to provide an international forum for scientists, science managers and policy makers to explore some of the emerging science solution that will be important for future livestock production systems under the banner 'Redesigning Animal Agriculture'. In this book the theme focused on 'The Challenge of the 21st Century'.
